Robert Wilson is an American violinist, composer and teacher. He is currently working towards a masters degree in violin performance at the Jacobs School of Music under Mark Kaplan and earned his Bachelors Degree in violin performance from Idaho State University. Robert is interested in using his music, both in performance and composition, to build bridges between contemporary classical music and new audiences. Recordings of his performances have been published in the creative journal Black Rock and Sage along with his own compositions, including his suite for solo violin, "Songs about Love". Robert's live performances have also been broadcast through Bengal Radio, Idaho State University's public station. He and his string quartet, Quartet Consensio received second place in the Boise State Young Artist String Quartet contest which was judged by the Dover String Quartet. Robert has been a driving force in bringing music education to underserved and rural communities across Idaho. Robert helped to organize and run multiple fledgling group classes which made quality strings education available in communities where none had previously existed. While teaching, Robert also helped his students to compose their own music and featured their works in concerts throughout the school year. While working towards his masters degree, Robert has worked with Mimi Zwieg through the IU Strings Academy where he provided additional lessons to young violinists. When Robert isn't performing, writing or teaching he enjoys spending time with his wife and baby while celebrating a profound love of dogs, Italian cooking and horror novels.
