Lucy Alessio is a violinist based in the Detroit area. A Michigan native, she began her violin studies at the age of five and went on to study with teachers such as Hai Xin Wu, Sonia Lee, and Kimberly Kaloyanides Kennedy. Lucy has won multiple awards for her playing, including the Irene Kinsey-Stare Award in 2014. She was invited to perform with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra in their annual Heroes Gala in 2016. Lucy has been featured as a soloist with the Oakland University Chamber Orchestra, the Wayne State University Symphony Orchestra, the University of South Carolina Chamber Orchestra, and the Troy Metro Symphony Orchestra. Lucy is actively involved in the metro-Detroit musical community as a performer and educator. She is a member of the Flint Symphony Orchestra and performs around the area as a chamber musician. A passionate teacher, she is violin faculty at the Rochester Conservatory of Music in Rochester, MI. Lucy completed her Masters degree in violin performance in 2021 at Wayne State University in Detroit under the instruction of Hai Xin Wu. Other than music, her interests include history and literature.
